Next Meeting: Friday March 2nd 7:00PM

The next ConQuest meeting will be held inside the barn this FRIDAY, March 2nd, from 7:00PM until 9:00PM. The first half of the meeting will consist of regular business. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:00PM followed by awards.

This will be a "re-do" of our last scheduled meeting that was cancelled on account of snow. Therefore, we are hopeful that those of you who had offered to bring refreshments and awards items are still able to do so. If not, please let us know at conquestbrighton@gmail.com.

This Friday night, there is no snow in the forecast but a chance of rain!

Tonight's Meeting POSTPONED!

Due to the inclement weather, tonight's meeting has been POSTPONED. All of our local schools cancelled classes for the day, and it is our policy to follow their lead. God willing, the awards and Mass will be rescheduled for another day in the near future.

Many thanks to all of you who were planning to bring something, and to Fr. John, who surely would have invoked the intercession of Servant of God Frederic Baraga (aka the Snoeshoe Priest) to make it to the barn for Holy Mass!

Be safe if you venture out for Stations of the Cross or a local fish fry!

Rosary for the Bishop

In an earlier post we mentioned the need to follow our true shepherds in the Church. Of course, these are the Pope and the other Bishops in communion with him. In recent years here in Michigan, we have been blessed with some of the most extraordinary Bishops to be found anywhere! Heaven knows that our good Bishops are under fire for standing up for our Catholic Faith nowadays.

What can we do about it?
Support them with our prayers!

Rosary for the Bishop is a campaign that aims to support Catholic Bishops through prayer of the Rosary. Please take a few minutes to join in praying for your Bishop (and any others that you wish to include).

The website makes it so simple to find bishops, schedule your rosary, and set up automatic reminders! I have added this to the links section on the right-hand column of the blog.

2/10 Meeting Recap

Despite some treacherous weather conditions outside, we had a great meeting inside the barn this past Friday night! The boys had plenty of time for physical activities and also received some excellent catechesis from Br. Joshua Thompson LC and the dads.

Drawing inspiration from the life of St. Anthony of Padua, the younger boys prepared and performed their own creative skits on the virtue of hard work. Br. Joshua educated us all on the prophetic dreams of St. John Bosco. The older boys continued their study of the various enemies of the Church. This is a topic of immense importance, especially considering current events both in our country and worldwide. We must recognize who our true shepherds are and follow them. Not everybody who purports to speak with the Church's authority has the salvation of our souls as their ultimate goal!

There is NO MEETING this coming weekend. The next meeting will be on Friday February 24th at 7:00 PM.

Final reminder for next meeting

This is the final reminder for tomorrow's regular meeting at 6:00PM in the Big Red Barn. Temps will be in the mid 30's.

Hope to see you all there!

Help the St. Louis Center win $100K!

Some of us visited the St. Louis Center (near Chelsea) the other day on a field trip. What remarkable, saintly work they do there!
Here is a great opportunity for St. Louis Center in Chelsea to receive a gift of $100,000! Please register at the link below and vote every day for U of M basketball coach John Beilein. You must be 18 to register. Voting ends on February 27th. This is a simple way for us to help out a great Catholic organization in our community!

Your votes would allow them to build a new outdoor sports & recreation area where today there is literally a slab of old, cracked asphalt! The residents of SLC deserve a dignified place to have some fun...

In the formative years of St. Louis Center, basketball was a favorite sport of the young boys who occupied the hallways of this unique residential care center west of Chelsea, MI. The boys’ teams of the 60’s were renowned for their basketball skills, and regularly took on the local teams in the area. Now basketball has taken center stage again, as St. Louis Center has been selected by basketball Coach John Beilein of the University of Michigan to participate in the “Infinity Coaches’ Charity Challenge” beginning on Wednesday January 18, 2012 at ESPN.com, at 3 p.m.
Forty-eight basketball coaches were chosen from throughout the United States to participate in this contest, and each coach was asked to select his favorite charity. Coach Beilein selected St. Louis Center for this honor. The teams will be divided into four regions, and the winner of each region will face–off in a “Final Four” when the winners are announced on February 28th. The Final Four winners will then compete in a “winner take all” runoff vote for $100,000.
Voting begins on January 18th, and to vote you must establish a personal account at ESPN.com and click-on the Infinity Coaches’ Charity Challenge. From there, you locate the photograph of Coach John Beilein with the words “St. Louis Center” underneath, and cast your vote. You can vote once-a-day through the end of the regional on February 27th. Voting will then commence for the Final Four winners until a winner is declared on March 8, 2012.
According to Fr. Enzo Addari, Administrator of St. Louis Center, “Coach Beilein visited St. Louis Center on January 2nd with his wife, Kathleen, and had an opportunity to visit with several of our residents. He seemed to be very moved by his experience here, and we are honored that he has chosen us for this contest.” For more information about St. Louis Center, please visit http://www.stlouiscenter.org/. A link will be set-up on January 18th that will take you directly to ESPN.com, and you may also vote through your facebook and twitter accounts.
